Proceed to our last stop in Malang, before the final drive home back to our lovely hometown, Surabaya. The place is called KLX Suki Batu or KLX Express @klxexpress and @ameliasteph2 told us that this is another must-visit place in Malang.
It has some interesting menu items such as Roasted Chicken, Dim Sum, youtiao/cakue/fried dough stick, and alcoholic drinks. It’s said to be open 24 hours too. Sounds like a deal to me, and off we went.
The interior of the restaurant was interesting. Yellow lights make it feel homy and cozy, relaxing. Plenty of seating capacity both restaurant-style and bistro-style to choose, a little stage for live music (maybe) and a projector screen with round sofa. Enough with the interior review, let’s move to the menu items.
I ordered Youtiao with Pandan Sauce, salted egg bun, and Kambing Special ala Afrika/African style lamb chops, in simple words. The youtiao/fried dough sticks with Pandan Sauce was my favourite, reminds me of Deep Fried Bread Sticks Doughnuts with Pandan Custard of @dodeepaidang . Not identical, but close enough. Okay I miss the one that DoDee made along with their noodle soups and Keaw Tod, but I still am unable to go down there and drop the restaurant a visit so for now, I’ll just have what I can Not a bad dishes to have here at KLX Suki Batu/KLX Express.
The salted egg steamed bun, was actually promising but I couldn’t manage to lay my hands on one. @ameliasteph @mayangdwin @windarmawan didn’t you girls had a bite? How was it?
Last but not least, the lamb/goat chops. It looks unappetizing, more like a pile of carcass on your plate BUT really, don’t judge a book by its cover. Perfectly seasoned, cooked alright (a tad overcooked to me), and served with some fried plantains (banana) which are tender and retained its natural sweetness, and freshly cut onions for texture and sweetness. Don’t forget to take some mints afterwards otherwise girls will shy away from you and your onion mouth.
